How to Transition a Maxi Dress for Fall

maxi dress for fallIt’s not even close to sweater weather yet in North Carolina, so I’m all about transitioning my maxi dresses for fall. It’s super easy to do and personally, I’d rather wear a dress with boots over shorts and a sweater any day. Here’s how I’m transitioning a maxi dress for fall. This was essentially my summer uniform. A lightweight maxi dress (my exact dress sold out, but head over to Doen to shop more of their beautiful dresses), a fedora and slides. A crossbody bag is now essential with two young kids. Now, let’s bring this up to speed and get it right for the fall season…maxi dress for fall maxi dress for fall maxi dress for fall maxi dress for fallThe key piece here is a long layer over the dress. Vests are my jam and I get excited to wear this long sleeveless trench vest any chance that I can get. There are tons of long vests at different price points (shop them below) and you will be surprised at how often you wear it (this Gap sweater is great for layering too). You can wear any bootie that you have with a long maxi dress. I wear my rag & bone booties (exact pair in black) all fall/winter and they have been such a good buy. Add a textured or heavier bag and you are good to go. I was tempted to add a hat with this, but quickly realized that I looked like Carmen San Diego. Probably not the worst thing in the world though. Girlfriend was always on a flight.
