Wearing pastels isn’t typically my thing, but after seeing this Mille Jasmine Dress, I decided to go for it. I’m wearing the dress in melon which is such a beautiful color and universally flattering (I also love it in indigo and black). Styling pastels can get a bit tricky so I’m sharing some simple tips on how to style them so that you can avoid looking like an easter bunny. I also styled it in this post for a more laid back look if that’s more your speed.
How to Wear Pastels
As someone who does not naturally gravitate towards pastels, this dress was uncharacteristic for me. With that being said, I am so happy that I snagged it. It’s beautiful and the color is really pretty. Pastel shades are typically soft and mild, so I styled this dress with natural and woven accessories. Go with a woven bag like this and a natural mule. I added a belt with this dress, but it can easily be worn without one for a more laid back look. Metallics are also really great with pastels. I added this gold bracelet which is really simple, but looks great with the melon color of the dress. The hat is a given, I wear it every day.
Another Way to Wear this Pastel Dress
I also love this dress worn with a belt bag. I was hesitant on this trend for awhile, but you guys, I love it. It gives you a waist with an element of functionality that I really appreciate as a mom. I plan on wearing this exact look to California in a few weeks so I can have my hands free for all the wine. Throw on a natural sandal and you are good to go.
More Tips for Styling Pastels
Pastels aren’t just for spring and summer. I plan on wearing this dress into the fall with the right accessories and layers. We are heading to Napa in a few weeks and I plan on wearing this with a sweater and boots/mules. Speaking of sweaters, this cardigan is on my list and would look so good layered over your favorite summer dress. I’ve tried this on and it fits true to size, so no need to size up or down. I’m partial to the rust color and think it’s great for the fall. In terms of a good bootie, these are perfect to wear with a dress and I also love this pair and this pair.
